Cannabinoids, like THC and CBD, are critical considerations in the overall genetic makeup of each plant. Your body, your built-in endocannabinoid system in particular, determines how cannabis will affect you.

What is THC?

THC, or delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (pssst - the “delta-9” is silent…), is defined as the main active compound found in cannabis. It is responsible for the feelings that many people experience from cannabis. In other words, it’s the reason people get “high” off of cannabis.

What is CBD?

CBD, or Cannabidiol (try to say that five times fast…) is a another compound found in cannabis. However, it is NOT psychoactive and therefore does NOT produce effects like THC. In fact, CBD can act as a buffer against of the effects of THC.

So how do these cannabinoids work together?

Different varieties of cannabis have a range of THC to CBD ratios, and the results will vary depending on a person’s biology. After all, cannabis is complex and it can affect people in different ways.

This graphic demonstrates what levels of psychoactivity or “high” you can expect from varietals whose THC and CBD concentration percentages fall within these ratios.
